Treo 700W coming to Cingular?
Rumor has it that Cingular will be releasing a new Windows based Treo next month. Just so happens that the 3 month exclusivity of the 700w for Verizon expires in less than 2 weeks.... Anyone have any more information? (or misinformation, who am I to judge)
The phone does exist, it has for over a year... Check the pictures below. The GSM phone is on the left.

I dont think that the one on the left is necessarly the cingular one. Notice the different keys that are similar to those of the Treo 650...meaning that that is the palm version of the 700.
Correct!!! This is just a prototype.
According to the now almost lost Sagio report, Hollywood to be released by Cingular sometime around March...
Time to make another blog entry...
I spoke toa Cingular rep and as told Cingular would not carry the 700W because it would not work with a GSM network, only digital. Don't know if it's true or not.
GSM is digital. All they need to do is change the radio chips and supporting software in WM5, and put a spot inside for a SIM card and voĆla - a GSM Treo 700w (Maybe a 700wg?)
(Of course there's a lot more testing and other stuff before it gets released - I bet it will be a lot more stable than the Verizon 700w - that phone SUCKS!)
Yea...that does not look like a GSM 700 because it still has the CDMA antenna. The GSM version which I've seen would not have the CDMA antenna as shown above.

I'd rather have an iPhone, in fact I do. Dumped my Treo. Still like the hard keyboard on the Treo, but will never go back.
today i got a 700w with a bad esn# and decided to have a little fun with it. I poped it open and the esn network adaptor looked just like the treo 650s. Having a couple of spare treos around i opened up a treo 650 gsm and swapped the network board in it and it powered up. still has the verizon software on it so i spent some time trying to see if i could get the band to switch to gsm but all it did was lockout the band selection. so it was no luck on this attempt. i even tried a bunch of registry setting changes but still no go. if i could find a firmware for a gsm windows pc and have it modified for the 700 it might work. maybe the 750 would help. or if anyone has any ideas maybe i can make a gsm treo 700w and put up a how to.
